My Weekend

Busy weekend. Firstly Ds1 was away on a big scouting competition down in Crawfordsburn. They had lots of challenges setting up camp, cooking making the equipment they needs like tables , washstand and also a sudan chair which they had to carry someone round and assault course on .
Ds1 is a patrol leader and was in charge of his group and their leaders where not allowed to help. Very proud Mum reporting that they won their district .
Sat saw a church Bbq in aid of Ulster Cancer Foundation which raised over 800 pounds. A couple of our members are doing a trek to Iceland and this is one of their various projects to raise money . I will let you know their final total. On sunday we had our Annual Picnic in the park. A friend and I started it last year. Unfortuanly due to the wet weather the week before we decided to hold it in the Rectory garden which is more shaded. We had some games for the kids big and old and it was nice getting together with others in an informal setting instead of rushing out of church like everyone normanly does. All the kids got acheivment awards for taking part which I printed off from this site BillyBear4Kids. Really excellent cause you can adapt them to suit whatever.

Todays verse

Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or
walk in the way of evil men.
Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn
from it and go on your way.
Proverbs 4:14-15 NIV

A Good Day So Far

Had such a good day so far . A friend took Ds2 this morning so i could study . Her little boy in in nursery in the afternoon with my Ds2 so she took them . I collected the little boy I mind and then Ds2 later. It meant I got a good 3 hrs study without interuption at a friends house who is doing the same course . We bounced ideas of each other and at the end of the day we will write it up our own way tomorrow night. Cant wait till its over and I can tackle my poor neglected house. There`s a christian event on in the nearest town tonight Im so tempted to go but really have so much to do I better not, its running for 3 nights so I`ll get there on wednesday. I feel so desperate for some real lively praise and worship.

Todays verse

All the ends of the world
shall remember and turn unto the LORD:
and all the kindreds of the nations
shall worship before thee.

For the kingdom is the LORD’s:
and he is the governor among the nations.

Psalm 22:27,28 KJV

A Day Off

Took some time out from my studies to go into town with Dd and Ds2. Dh and Ds1 are away for a ramble up the mournes with our church rambling club. Needed to get Dd some tapestry needles for school and a tennis racket . Then on the way home we stopped off at McDonald and I was pleased with myself( pat on Back) I had a diet coke . Im on a diet and Ive lost 8Lb`s in total. So looking good for my holiday in July still lots to go . Also had a good search in my wardrobe and found a lovely top ( Dd not so sure) I only wore once which will go nicely with a pair of trousers i have for my neice`s wedding . So i wont have to buy a new outfit- hooray might treat my self to getting my nails done but by the time I buy Ds1 and Ds2 clothes it will be dear enough. DD is bridesmaid so shes sorted and keeping Mum.
Dr who tonight and then back to the books

FearNot !Be Bold

May 5 2006, 11:16 PM

Fear NOT! Be bold… But now, this is what the LORD says – he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; Isaiah 43:1-3a NIV

Im feeling very overwhelmed today have to remember I am where God has placed me and he has equipped me with what I need to get through, doesnt stop it being so scarey though.

Crown Jesus

Things are the usual mad house but I really wanted to share what I was up to over Easter. Had some really good family time as I have already said but I didn’t say about crown Jesus Miminstries , here a link http://www.crownjesus.org/church_projects.htma A fantastic organisation they encourages young people in their walk with God. Its also tries to encourage different denominations to work together, no mean feat. From the beginning of January until the end of May, Crown Jesus Ministries has been working in Lisburn city and as part of that they help to organise Street reach along side the church Army. This initiative involves encouraging our young people to go out into the community, clearing areas doing peoples gardens painting out graffiti and clearing rubbish. Showing them that God loves them – no hidden agenda no hidden catch. It really was uplifting to be involved and to see our young people witness to the community. In the morning we had a wonder praise and pray time, then lunch before hitting the streets, what was nice also was getting to know people from different churches, Methodists, Elim, Baptist, Presbyterians, and C O Ireland among others. Then on saturday they organised a night called one way. A night of praise and worship and prayer , there was also dramas and dance and it certainly proved that the life of a young christian doesnt need to be dull. We took a long a group from connect our youth fellowship and our Rector and his wife came along. It was great night even if i felt a little bit older when i left. Have a look at the link up above its a great organisation.

The Touch Of The Masters Hand

The Touch Of The Masters Hand Twas battered and scarred, and the auctioneer
Thought it scarcely worth his while
To waste his time on the old violin,
But he held it up with a smile. “What am I bid, good friends?” he cried.
“Who’ll start the bidding for me?
One dollar! Only one?
And who’ll make it two?
Two dollars, once. And three!
Three dollars, once.
And three dollars, twice.
And going , and going , ” but no…
From the back of the room a gray-haired man
Came forward and picked up the bow.
And wiping the dust from the old violin,
And tightening the loose strings,
He played a melody pure and sweet
As caroling angels sing.
The music ceased, and the auctioneer
With a voice that was quiet and low,
Said, “What am I bid for the old violin?”
As he held it up with the bow.
“One thousand dollars, and who’ll make it two?
Two thousand,dollars, and three !
Three thousand, once.
And three thousand, twice.
And going, and going, and gone!” said he.
The people cheered, but some of them cried,
“We don’t quite understand
What changed it’s worth.”
Swift came the reply,
” ‘Twas the touch of the Master’s hand.”
And many a man with life out of tune
And battered and scarred with sin,
Is auctioned cheep to the thoughtless crowd
Much like this old violin.
A mess of pottage, a glass of wine.
A game, and he travels on.
He’s going once, and going twice.
And going, and almost gone.
But the Master comes, and the thoughtless crowd
Never can quite understand
The worth of a soul,
and the change that is wrought,
By the touch of the Master’s hand.

–Myra Brooks Welch, 1936

A close friend sent me this as she knows I have been going through a hard time recently, apparently it was her Fathers favourite poem so very special . I think its very moving I hope you do too.
