Open doors: UZBEKISTAN AND TAJIKISTAN

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. NIV. [Romans 15:4]

UZBEKISTAN AND TAJIKISTAN

Please pray for Christians in Nukus in the country of Uzbekistan . They are often interrogated and pressured by the authorities not to hold worship services. In the media Christians are frequently portrayed negatively or as members of an extremist sect. Recently, police started a man-hunt for Makset Djabbarbergenov, a high profile Protestant Christian leader, who has gone into hiding. As a result he was forced to miss the birth of his third child several weeks later.

Similarly, please pray for believers in the villages of Tajikistan . The only Christian bookshop in the country is situated in the capital but elsewhere access to Christian literature is extremely limited. Believers often face pressure from the community. In a recent confrontation a group of Christians were threatened by local extremists who said that their children were being seduced and led astray in order to become Christians.

Please Pray:

  • For Makset Djabbarbergenov, for his safety and that he would quickly be reunited with his family
  • That believers in Tajikistan would be able to preach the Gospel free from the threats of local militants
  • That Bibles and other Christian literature would be freely available in the rural areas of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan .

Thank you for praying with us.
