“Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.”

– 2 Timothy 2:8-9 [TNIV]

A bookstore owner in Beijing has been re-arrested for publishing Bibles and Christian literature. Shi Weihan had previously been arrested in November but was released in January due to ‘insufficient evidence’. His second arrest appears to be part of a government crackdown ahead of the Olympic Games.

Shi, a 37-year-old father of two, was arrested for the second time on 19 March and is being denied any visits from his family. His wife Zhang has been prohibited from bringing him any food or clothing. She is very concerned for his health because he suffers from diabetes.

Shi was first arrested on 28 November last year and held by the Public Security Bureau over Christmas. While he was detained his wife received no word on her husband’s condition. Public Security Bureau officials have been known to use deprivation and torture to force detainees to reveal information about others. On 4 January he was released due to ‘insufficient evidence’.

Asia Times Online reported in January that Shi had been printing Bibles and Christian literature without authorisation. These were for distribution to local homes and churches. Zhang told the news service that Shi was concerned about publishing the unauthorised books, but that he felt the risk was worth taking because the churches needed them.

Please pray…

  • Pray for Shi’s health while he is being held, to be released soon and that his bookstore, less than two miles from the Olympic Village, would continue to serve the Church.
  • Pray that God would strengthen Zhang and surround the whole family with His comfort and love.
  • Pray for the demonstrations and events taking place outside Chinese embassies and consulates around the world at midday tomorrow, asking China not to repatriate North Korean Christians, that God will move and work through the protest and all the letters written by Open Doors’ supporters to the Chinese ambassador

Well isnt life funny , now that the decision about college has been made I have got a little spark back and have actually done quite a bit of work done – lack if pressure I think and also seeing my son1s effort being able to catch up on his – feeling proud of him – its hard being a teen . Im also feeling very aware that I do want to graduate eventually and if I just set it aside it might just happen in time for my retirement lol.

So I have been working on my presentation which I may have to present to the tutors instead – yikes but am glad to get it finished- will work on the write up in May even though it doesnt now have to be in till August. Have also being doing some work for my problem module ,the one I cant complete without a certain number of placement hours- I have to hand in 24 personal Learning Records and a summation – I have about 19 done so thats great – will hand them in , in August 2 just to get them out of the way . Also a case study to do for August – either on a client or myself .
Actually would it be a bit naughty if I start my personal therapy and use what ever comes out of it to help ? Take the summer off and then 2 taped case studies and a vivo to complete. Good news is I have found out I will have no other fees to pay and wont even have to go to classes as I have done them and have enough academic hours. I will just need to check in with whoever is taking the placement module .

Still waiting to here about the clients I will get through an agency – if you remember it was cancelled due to my flu . I hoping to have my hours up till Christmas.

Each Peach, Pear, Plum – Allan Ahlberg

When my 2 eldest where in primary school- since closed down there was a teacher who made a point of teaching all her children Each Peach Pear Plum and I must admit to loving it too.

Bear brought the book home on Tuesday and I have spent the past few days teaching him it . Im a proud mummy as this morning he said it all by him self going out to school

Each peach, pear, plum, I spy Tom Thumb,

Tom Thumb in the cupboard, I spy Mother Hubbard,

Mother Hubbard in the cellar I spy Cinderella,

Cinderella on the stairs I spy three bears,

Three bears out hunting, I spy Baby Bunting,

Baby Bunting fast asleep, I spy Bo Peep,

Bo Peep on the hill, I spy Jack and Jill,

Jack and Jill in the ditch, I spy the Wicked Witch,

Wicked Witch over the wood, I spy Robin Hood,

Robin Hood in his den, I spy three bears again,

Three bears still hunting, they spy Baby Bunting,

Baby Bunting safe and dry, I spy plum pie,

Plum pie in the sun, I spy…..

Its a wonderful book very easy for young children to learn , Its I spy with a difference as each sentence is part of a nursery rhyme or fairytale that leads cleverly to the next making it easy to pick up . There is also the added bonus of wonderful pictures that give the child a chance to find the characters

Good news

Well decisions have been made- difficult and a bit painful but even that hasnt hisdden the fact that I feel a certain amout of relief . I have decided that I wont be graduating this year instead resiting my last placement module next January. Still going to college to finish my other module and even that means I have asked for an extention. I have finally admitted to Dh that I am feeling extremely low – fighting depression and it only through the Gods grace that I have not being pulled under completely- I dont have to look to far to see reasons for my present state of mind – a dear friend said to me on Tuesday that I had gone through such a lot this past two years and it was time to practice a little self care – My tutor more or less said the same thing and I have to agree with them.

Good news is that My Dh has been offered a job- not just as good as the one he was made reduntant from but will certainly keep his spirits up – I will have to a bit more responsible with the funds- not something I can claim to be good at normanly.

Ds1 has finished all his course work , a bit last minute but after what he has being going through Im just so grateful to God that he is doing any work at all – Thanks to all you that are praying – keep at it , praise God prayers are being answered in my house.
